Let there be Light

Candela Website Launch

Candela’s online store went live yesterday illuminating screens around the world thanks to a feature on Style.com.

Congratulations to the Candela design stars: Natalia & Gabriela for taking their business into cyberspace, and thanks go out to Portable, our programming team who made the process so easy.

The ladies of Candela recommend pairing army boots with a flapper dress — so we command you to go shop!

Creative Space Launches in Web Space

Creative Space Website

We are ecstatic to announce that the Creative Space website has launched!

Creative Space believes and embraces the idea that our society has progressed from knowledge workers to a society of creators, thus we are in the process of transitioning into a creative economy. Which is great for us! Creative Space was conceived to bring unconventional spaces creative companies to help inspire and facilitate creative progress.

Thanks goes out to BlankAndCo for the elegant programming.

We’ve collaborated with Paper Dragon Books to create a number of books including a few for the CFDA Fashion Fund for Monique Péan and most recently, Candela and Christian Cota. These pieces would be nothing without Gavin and Denise Dovey. It’s been an absolute pleasure working with Paper Dragon Books whose bindery work (despite all the challenges we pose them with) is always perfect upon completion. We were also pretty excited when we saw that Gavin mentioned us in his blog!

Here’s a little piece of press on our favorite Mother / Daughter team. The 11th Moon boutique, recently opened, although tiny, and located in Laguna Beach, CA already seems to have have a big following in the NYC fashion community. We’re consistently amazed about how many people seem to know about this store. It’s probably due in part to the big personalities of owners Virginia and Gillian as well as their incredible taste in clothing… they carry some of our favorites – Lorick, Timo Weiland, Arnsdorf, Rachel Comey, VPL, etc.

Arnsdorf’s Show is a Gem!

Arnsdorf Spring 2011

Bravo Arnsdorf! We recently had the pleasure and privilege to collaborate with Arnsdorf on their crystal-inspired pattern for their Spring 2011 Collection. We are so excited to see the results and hear the great reviews!

“A gorgeous abstract print came out in various separates” —Fab Sugar

“Loving: Arnsdorf’s delicate start to the final day.” —vogue.com.au

“Shown towards the end of the show were magnificent marble-like kaleidoscopic prints – a result of the collaboration with graphics and print designer Roanne Adams. With its shattered glass-like appearance, this visually enchanting print fabricated some contrarily sharp and smart statement looks.”
—The X File of Yulya X’s Fashion World

When Jade Arnott approached us for help and showed us her inspiration book we were super excited to try to bring her idea to life. Along with the crazy crystal pattern, we created a pop-up show invitation and lookbook so stay tuned for those in the near future.

Last night’s Photo Auction for Artists in LOVE was a gigantic success! Incredible photos were donated by the likes of William Wegman, Dan Winters, Cass Bird, Platon etc. There was a huge turn out, incredible speakers, the auction made tons of money for the kids and we had fun in the process!!

The non-profit’s goal is to create a youth culture who teach the message of non-violence youth to youth (brilliant)!! These incredible kids shown above are the one’s spreading the message of non-violence. They and got up in from of the enormous crowd to speak about the violence they’ve witnessed in their lives and showcased the art that they create to reaction to it.

Jacqueline Di Milia

Recently, we were invited to guest lecture / critique a class — Communications Imaging at Pratt Institute taught by Jacqueline Di Milia. The class is primarily sophomores and focuses on photography within a design specific context. For the most part, we addressed our process of how images are created through art direction and putting them in to use through design. It was super fun, thanks for inviting us! Hopefully, we will have the opportunity to do it again.
