Rachel Antonoff’s Magic-to-do!

Rachel’s show last night was a huge success! We may be biased since we did art direct the event, but we really thought it was simply magic!

The stage at Henry Street Playhouse came to life thanks to the lovely models, actresses (Alia Shawkat), and it-girls as well as Set Designers (and office mates) Aux Armes for their brilliant interpretation of Rachel’s idea to put on a dress rehearsal as opposed to a performance.

“The collection—a sweet mix of forties-inspired frocks, tap shorts, and tops was shown tableau style at the Henry Street Settlement Playhouse. The concept was a dress rehearsal for an imaginary production titled Magic to Do, and she called on some theatrical pals to help bring to life her themes.”

Fashionista called it a “magical presentation” and noted “The theater’s stage featured a balance beam, swings, vanities and books for the collection of models – and Arrested Development’s Alia Shawkat – to play with during the presentation.”

Blackbook had nothing but great things to say about the clothes, which without them, there would be no purpose! “Rachel Antonoff presented a collection of whimsical yet extremely wearable (save for maybe the tutus) dresses, blouses, and high-waisted pants for her eponymous SS10 line at the Henry Street Playhouse last night on the very same stage that her teenage grandmother had once put on plays (a fact the designer learned only after choosing the location).”
